Overall judge: amazing movie!

United Nude

Sometimes I have the impression that, even being in London and having the possibility to visit an endless number of shops, items I see
are all almost the same, a part from some sporadic exception.
Walking in Brighton though, I found a shop which sells a brand of shoes really different and original. For this reason I truly believe it deserves
to be recorded in my blog.
The brand's name is United Nude, and below you can see some
of my favourite products. By the way, beyond the "elegant and innovative" design (as they define it in the website, and I definitely agree)
the trademark sells many of its high heels in two
heights, so at least
for once, women can have the choise!

Curio Cabinet Exhibition

This beautifully tiny gallery located in the East London (here it is the link
if you are interested) shows a collection of lovely illustrations, unfortunately until the 28th of July. The style is subtle, delicate
and absolutely gorgeous.

24.7.10

Smash

I have just been for the first time at the London's Design Museum
few days ago, and visiting one of the exhibitions I discovered Smash,
a nice and neat lamp by the designer Nendo.
These small or big jellyfishes full of light, simple and unpretentious, would look very good in a contemporary interior, especially
if used in little groups.

VAS: an opera in flatland

An amazing example of good book design, layout, typography.
To who's interested, it is available on Amazon.

Romantic London

London's most romantic places: red double-decker buses!
Just kidding...Anyway, nice picture, isn't it?

A Tomato Project

To all graphic designers who will look at my blog:
One of the best books I've ever bought: A Tomato Project by Tomato.
It's difficult to describe what's in but whatever there is, it is effectively designed for a really strong visual result.

18.7.10

The Perfect Kitchen

High ceilings, wood and linear forniture for this marvellous room...there
is only one weak spot: one needs a lot of space to have a kitchen like this.

17.7.10

Cristian Zuzunaga

We are living in a digital era, pixels everywhere!
I think this is what the designer Cristian Zuzunaga meant to say with these stunning projects for Moroso. Simple shapes and right colors
for a piece of forniture that fits with the modern and bright house.

16.7.10

Make it simple

Often good design comes out from the simplest things.
This room looks so nice even if there are no design pieces
or expensive objects. Just a clean space furnished with
a functional style and a thoughful taste.

Naive atmosphere

Light colours, shiny drops, naive atmosphere.

14.7.10

Sweet masterpieces

One of the showcases you can admire in Brighton's lanes offers
you this amazing sight. Cakes, sculpture, masterpieces I dare say.
Many compliments to the chef!

I-lollipop

Nice and funny Apple logo remake...to see more: Creative Review.

12.7.10

Glossy style

Such a pretty glossy style!

(from Trendland / Note that some of the pictures you can find in the site
are definitely too vulgar and explicit in my point of view)

11.7.10

Rainbow cake

Have you ever seen a more colorful dessert?
I like this one, a way to turn a classic cake or cupcake
in something special.
Here there are ingradients and how to make it!

Jules Verne by Jim Tierney

Well designed books gain a special value even if the text remains
the same. I hope you'll love these ones as I do.

Papercraft

If someone of you is passionate of paper and things made
with paper this is definitely the book for you!
You can have it from Amazon.

The pink room

I want a bathroom like this one.
Nobody is gonna go in the wrong door anymore!

Fishbag

Let's continue with a packaging today.
I don't even know what's in, but how funny is this plastic bag?

Cup spot

Here it is a graphically nice way to use a negative point like a spot
to promote a good coffee (or at least I hope it is a good one!).

Cath Kidston

If you can I advice you to take a look at this gorgeus shop.
It is Cath Kidston, where you can find a a wide range of objects characterized by really nice patterns which give to them a vintage flavor.

Seaside or mountains?

Which landscape would you choose for your workplace?
Seaside or mountains?
Here there are two nice examples of rooms I'd definitely like to have as my workplace. No matter which landscape you choose but huge windows, a big table and a lot of white are the right ingredients!

5.7.10

Cosy attic + Snow + Hot chocolate

Have you ever seen a cosier room?
An attic with a lot of wood, a soft bed, books...I definitely would like to be there with the snow out of the windows and a hot chocolate! The one object I don't appreciate is the chandelier, don't you find it too decorated for a place like this?

(from Design*Sponge)

4.7.10

Gail's

If your searching for a place to eat fresh and healthy food in London
and you are tired of Pret A Manger and Eat I strongly suggest you to take
a break at Gail's. This bar offers a large choise of panini, sandwiches, salads as well as incredible desserts as the one I have immortalized
for you, all delicious and made with high quality ingredients.
Althought it is definitely more expensive of the just cited
alternatives,
it's worth sometimes to have lunch in this elegant
brasserie.

1.7.10

Wallpaper New York guide

I just bought my first Wallpaper Guide, New York obviously.
Quite small but nice and well designed.
Curious stuff: I had it from the Travel Book Shop the one
in the movie Notting Hill. (Hugh Grant and Julia Roberts, 1999)

BP Portrait Award 2010

I have always loved the National Portrait Gallery, probably more than the National Galley it self. Few days ago I have been there for the umpteenth time to accompany some friends and I find out that the temporary exhibition was the BP Portrait Award 2010.
This is a collection of portraits by not so known artists more or less young which paint friends, siblings, relatives as well as famous characters.
Nothing really special so far but I assure you:
one of the best exhibitions I have ever seen in my life.
Please go and see it! (
by the way admission is free)
Below there are some spreads of the catalogue.

Liberty

After a long long break in Italy and from the screen I'm back here
in London and in my dear blog with some interesting stuff.
This is Liberty, a kind of equivalent of Harrods (in some ways):
it's definitely a tourist destination, they sell every tipology of item from the wallet to the table and you can find well known brands as well
as goods designed by Liberty.
But I like it because it is smaller and less crowded, the architecture style is really interesting and characteristic and Liberty itams have always really nice patterns and colours.
If you are in London I advice a little walk in this shop!
