Anagrama

I introduce you this Mexican graphic and interior design studio called Anagrama. Graphic design works are really good but what I liked more is this interior for Theurel & Thomas and the web site is nice as well.

Magma

I'm trying to write down either on paper or on this blog all the things I want to remember about London. That's why today I tell you my favourite design/graphics/fashion/illustration (and much more) book shop. It is Magma and you can buy online as well. Moreover thay have a objects section with nice and original items.

Inventario

Foscarini is a well known Italian lighting company. It always works with famous designers producing remarkable objects but the thing I like more about it, is the fact that Foscarini often promotes nice projects like, for example, Lux magazine and the new one I want to show you today which is Inventario. I quote directly from the web site "INVENTARIO, a new editorial project promoted and supported by Foscarini, edited by Beppe Finessi, with art direction by Artemio Croatto/Designwork, published by Corraini Edizioni. INVENTARIO takes a free and illuminated look at the design, architecture and art scene and is a mouthpiece for Foscarini values. Designed as a magazine and created in book form, it is published three times a year and is available in the world's leading bookstores". It seems to contain quite interesting contents by famous designers and architects and to be very well designed, I think it'll be my next online purchase (it is possible to subscribe too!)

This is Collate

Since I am working on a new project, as usual I've just gone through the research phase, when you spend hours and hours seeking nice works, inspiration, examples and whatever could be useful for the design of your project. Although during this stage there is no actual production, it is definitely the basis of a good designed project and a way to collect a number of good web sites adresses. Here it is the best one I found today, it's called This Is Collate and it's the right place where to search for good design works. You can even watch at this video which is a collection of the best works published on the web site in 2010.

Visuelle

There's a very nice web site I've just discovered: it's called Visuelle and it's a collection of good graphic design works. For inspiration and to be up to date, have a look.

Ben Jennings

There's not a lot of time to talk about interesting things, but it's always time to share something nice. So, have a look to Ben Jennings web site, a selection of few but remarkable works.

Amazon.it

When I was in London I used to buy a lot of stuff, mainly books, from Amazon.co.uk. I was so happy to use this website because items were always cheaper than the same ones in shops and I wondered what I would have done without it when I would have been back in Italy. Well, no worries anymore, Amazon is also dot it now! Try it and good shopping!

A cup of tea

When we lived together, me and my friend, used to dream about opening our own shop: a book/bookbinding/papercrafts/other nice things shop. This is why today I'm creating a new label to collect all the ideas and reminders related with this (for the moment) imaginary shop.
You are certainly wondering why I posted a cup of tea for a book shop. I did it because I was thinking that it would be nice to offer a little cup of tea to everyone who come in the shop. In this way, even if they don't buy something, they think about the shop as a cosy and pretty place.
By the way, talking about offering cups of tea, here it is a nice article about it.

Bye Bye London - Thank you Ryanair

Well, finally it happened, my London adventure it's over. And, as you certainly noticed, I have been too busy (or lazy?) for my blog. This is because I landed on Italian soil just few days ago and I spent all the time unpacking and saying hello to relatives and friends. Anyway, maybe it's not so interesting but I'd like to thank "my dear" Ryanair that transports me to London from Italy (and viceversa) during this year for a few Euros/Pounds by comparison with all the other airline companies. And when my flight has been deleted for the snow last January they refunded me every single quid! Thanks Ryanair then and bye bye UK. (after all there is a blue sky also over London!)

Kris Atomic

Here you are a very suggestive picture of a snowy Brighton Pavillion. It is by Kris Atomic, she posted it in her really tasteful blog. It countains a food section too, I just had a short look at it but I foresee I will be writing about it really soon.

Uniform Wares

"The 100 Series timepiece is a unisex everyday wristwatch. The design is inspired by the form and graphic detailing of wall clocks found within British Industry.
This timepiece now features an anodised aircraft grade 6061 aluminium case, a PU rubber strap and precision 3 hand Japanese Quarz movement.
"
Veeeeeery nice! Have a look at the details on Uniform Wares.

Nothing to Fear

The Master Major Project has just been uploaded on my website.
You're very welcome to have a look at it.

Fortnum & Mason

It takes me one year to discover this lovely food store near Piccadilly Circus. During this year in London I've always seen bunches of turists with these little turquoise green bags and just now I know where they did get them from. It's called Fortnum & Mason and it is a chic and refined food store (in some ways similar to Harrods' Food Halls) which seems to have also a long tradition (read here). Nice cakes and bread, but also vegetables, meat, fish and whatever you crave. I have to thank my friend Meghan who lent me the camera without protesting, because she knows how much I am obsessed with good food!

Canaletto and his Rivals

I've always liked the Italian painter Canaletto a lot, so today I went to the National Gallery to see the exhibition Canaletto and his Rivals. It was small but, as usual, the few things you have to see, the better you appreciate them and trust me it was really worth it. You cannot even imagine the details he was able to represent, so tiny and so precise at the same time. I honestly think that all his rivals efforts to reach his level were vain. Nevertheless I have to admit that I enjoied Francesco Guardi's paintings, he seemed to have a kind of personal style, even if the subject and historical period coincided (please take a look at them in an exhibition or a book, there's no way to find a decent image online!). For anyone who could be interested, it lasts til the 16th of January.

One last comment. Why paintings of an Italian city by an Italian painter has to be exhibited in all the cities of the world but in Italy? Am I too patriotic maybe?

Time to cook

Christmas holydays will be here soon. It's time to cook and eat a lot. Today I searched for some dessert recipes and I think I found something really tempting. The first one is a banana and amaretto cake, the second sweet ricotta tart with peaches (click on the names for recipes).

Come to the dark side

This will be added to my "list of the last purchases in London". It's too funny! Take a look to the complete collection on David&Goliath website.

Sunny Moon

These are some of the illustrations by my friend Sunny Moon, just graduated at the MA Graphic Design / London College of Communication. Aren't they gorgeous? Check the profile on Behance to work with her.

5.12.10

Studio Fludd

Today I'll introduce you to Studio Fludd, a design and graphic design studio but I would also define them a workshop. Five young designers that produce very original creations, from invitations to jewels. Here I posted my favourites, Materia Prima and KITs.

Martian Art

I bet you are not able to recognise the subject of these pictures! It's quite difficult actually, but, believe it or not, this is Mars. They have been taken by NASA's Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter which "has been photographing the planet for several years now at resolutions as fine as mere inches per pixel" (from Big Picture). Propably it sounds even more incredible but you can also check the real location of them in something called Google Mars. Anyway, I posted this because I find these landscapes amazing, they look like art works.

Finnish Design Shop

Need some ideas for your Christmas presents? Take a look at the Finnish Design Shop which my mom adviced me few days ago, some examples of nice affordable design objects for an original gift. I like these sheets with ginkgo biloba leaves.

Chrome Material Tutorial

I like this image. It's the result of the Chrome Material Tutorial made using Autodesk 3ds Max. I'm sure that amazing things can be done with these 3D softwares, the problem is that unfortunately they are not so simple to use.
