Mindrelic Timelapse

Beautiful. It makes me even more eager (if possible) to visit NYC.

Noi donne calpestate, non possiamo tacere

I'm not going to speak about politics in my blog but I feel it's important that my female (and possibly male too) Italian followers read this.

Editions from GF Smith

Since my final MA project was mainly about paper I had the chanche to know something about GF Smith, a quite famous paper trader company. This is why I know it exists something called Editions from GF Smith, a collection of pictures that contemporary British photographers Rankin, John Ross and Lee Funnell took for GF Smith company catalogues. These are the ones I like more, but it is really worth to have a look at them.

Tulip hub

I've discovered this lovely tulip hub online a lot of time ago and it was love at the first sight. Yesterday I've seen them in a shop (b/Store), and for this reason (and 'cause they're too cute!) today I'm showing them to you. (find the tulip hub online)

Cathy Hutton

Look at what my friend Federica sent me a few days ago. The underground stickers "Wake me up" to help who uses to sleep in the tube: you just wear them and whoever will be close to you, will know that you have to be woken up at a certain station. Aren't they neat? You can find them and other nice items at Cathy Hutton.

Nika Zupanc

She is a Slovenian young designer with remarkable talent. Have a look to Nika Zupanc's works, so simple and yet so lovely. She's also collaborating with Moroso, a design furniture company which is really close to my hometown, and works also with designers like Ron Arad, Patricia Urquiola and so on.

Sun Studio art&design

I got one of these headbands from Bricklane Market, a couple of months ago. Today tidying up I found the business card: it's the Sun Studio art&design, quoting the web site "Sun Studio is a London based contemporary craft collection in handmade knot work. Collections are inspired by traditional Asian knot work. Influenced by flowers and nature. Sun Studio’s designs are vibrant and unique costume jewellery. Each piece is carefully handmade using threads by knot work. Find a beautiful gift, the perfect accessory, or original artwork for your home." Buy also online.

IKEA toys

Yesterday, after a walk on the seaside, I went to IKEA. That's something nice I found this time: a tiny toy tea set and stuffed vegetables. Obviously (and maybe luckly) my boyfriend forbade me to buy them, but they are so cute!

Inviting Calendar

A nice calendar, makes me hungry.
Pictures by David Ryle. Designed by Peter Chadwick.
Also, have a look at the Design Week best calendars list where this calendar has been featured.

O' CLOCK

And here you are, of course (because there is no way to avoid to find something to buy every time I go out!), a nice shop I found in Venice. Tilings, as the ones you can find in the swimming pool and colorful/simple/rubber/cool design watches. They are the O'CLOCKS and you can buy them here or, much better, go and have a look at it in the Fullspot Market in Venice.

A foggy Sunday

When I was on the train last Sunday and I saw that the closer we got to our destination the foggier it was, I thought that my first trip to Venice after more than two years was ruined. Well, I was wrong: foggy Venice is one of the most fascinating things I've ever seen.

Trippen

I'm currently designing a proposal for the new website of a forniture company. As usual I did an endless examples/inspiration preliminary research an this is what I found: Trippen, a Berlin based leather items company with a nice website and amazing products. They define their production "quality and socially responsible using the best materials".
Have a look!

Established & Sons

"Established & Sons is a British based design and manufacturing company with a commitment to quality UK-based production..." and, I add, a pretty web site with a remarkable use of typography.

Accidental Mysteries

Thanks to Design Observer I came across to this eccentric blog. The name is also quite interesting: Accidental Mysteries. I particularly like the last part of the description of it "a blog about...the magic that can be found in everyday things." Have a look when you're searching for something curious and unusual.

Materiality on paper

I love 3 dimensional "touchable" things on paper.

Miso soup recipe

Today I've had my weekly ration of Japanese food in a simply furnished but nice restaurant close to my hometown in Italy (to who it may interest it's in Udine and it's called Tokio). It was the first time I went there but food was very good and I'll certainly be back as soon as I can.
Anyway, as usual I had my miso soup cup and, since I love it, I want to make it one day. I found some recipes online and this sounds the best one: Simple 10-Minutes Miso Soup. Can't wait to see if it tastes so good as the one I had in restaurants.

To be or not to be inspired

Is it good to take inspiration from existing works? I think so. It's the point to have a blog like this: collect stuff you find inspiring and share it with your readers. Nevertheless this article makes me think about this from another point of view which is certainly interesting.

Bitique + Siiimple

Searching for inspiration? Have a look to Siiimple for nice and minimal websites and to Bitique for every kind of good graphic design works.

Toby Edwards

In the past he was a brilliant student.
Now he is a very skilled graphic designer.
Among his works for Ted Baker, Fedrigoni and Rolls-Royce I found this little book about my favourite city: New York. I'm speaking about Toby Edwards.

Victionary and Pie Books

Victionary and Pie Books are two of my favourites publishing houses. They are specialized in design books and they mainly publish collections of works of several categories: from 'Nice to meet you' where you can see some of the best business cards ever, to 'Shop Image Graphics in Paris' which contains amazing graphics of 97 shops in Paris. I just own a few of these books, but I've flipped through a number of them in shops and libraries and they always contain high quality works which is really worth to know. Some of Victionary and Pie Books books will be certainly sold in my own (work)shop.

Wild Animals

Isn't it an amazing way to draw animals? I want this book: it's Wild Animals by Wilde Dieren (to buy click here).

Advice for students

I feel ashame, but I didn't even know this brand identity designer, David Airey, before to see this web page. He curates this blog, about graphic design obviously, since 4 years ago and he published a collection of advice for students. Pretty interesting also for who's not a student anymore.

New Work Magazine

At the moment only five issues have been created but it seems to me that NewWork Magazine will be a success. Unfortunately just a few bookshops sell it but luckly there is a online store where you can get it.

Thinking for a Living

I definitely agree with this statement by Benjamin Franklin, often it's quite useless to speak and much better to act. Have a look to this web site Thinking for a Living, it's full of interesting articles about design and it is well designed itself as well.
