It's made of concrete and it's something-sweet-shaped. The designer is the talented Geraldine Nishi and I predict she'll receive an email from me very soon. I want one of her creations...pleaaaase!!!

Better late than never: Biennale di Venezia 2011

A few weeks ago me and my boyfriend got on the train and went to Venice to go to Venice Biennale.
Just in time because it lasts till the end of November. It was a beautiful day and I took loads of pictures, here you are some of my favourites.

Messages, secret boxes by Amaury Poudray

A few days ago I got the chance to get in touch with the designer Amaury Poudray, who presented me his lovely project Messages, which will be exhibited at the Granville Gallery - Paris - from the 26th of November. Messages is a contemporary interpretation of the concept of the message in the bottle (do you remember Police's song??) and it consists in three glass bottles in a ceramic container, every bottle contains a secret message which can be revealed only braking the bottle. Available in two sizes, for children and adults. Have a look at the press material here and a short film about the project here.

Qualche giorno fa ho avuto l'opportunità di parlare con il designer Amaury Poudray, che mi ha presentato il suo bellissimo progetto Messages, che verrà esposto a Parigi alla Granville Gallery dal 26 di novembre. Messages è un'interpretazione contemporanea del concept del messaggio nella bottiglia (vi ricordate la canzone dei Police??), consiste in tre bottiglie di vetro in un contenitore di ceramica, ognuna di queste bottiglie contiene un messaggio segreto che può essere svelato solo rompendo la bottiglia. Style and irony are preferable to every front row

I started to be an almost regular reader of a few fashion blogs some time ago, not long ago though, now that I think about it, it's since I began using Google Reader a few months ago (a very useful tool by the way). At the beginning I liked them a lot, I liked the informal style of articles and pictures and I loved the fact that very young bloggers become famous trend hunters (actually I still love this) and sometimes, thanks to those blogs, they start working with some of the biggest fashion firms of the moment. Neveretheless, the more I follow fashion blogs, the more I notice that often being a fashion blogger doesn't mean to understand and discover new trends but wear designer clothes trying to look cool and original, and sometimes even without a particular taste or style.
This  long premise to tell you about fashion bloggers I admire:
From me to you because her pictures are beautiful and she has her own old-fashioned style which fits perfectly on her and it doesn't follow the front rows.
The Man Repeller because she makes me laugh and it looks like she simply wears what she wants, doesn't matter if it's not cool or fashionable.
(both New York based...it's official: I love NY!!)

Ho cominciato a seguire alcuni fashion blog un po' di tempo fa, non molto a dire il vero, più o meno da quando ho iniziato ad usare Google Reader qualche mese fa (uno strumento davvero utile). All'inizio mi piacevano molto, mi piaceva lo stile informale delle foto e degli articoli, e il fatto che giovani blogger diventano famosi trend hunters (e questo ancora mi piace) e a volte, proprio grazie ai loro blog, cominciano a lavorare con le più grandi firme del momento. Tuttavia, più seguo questi blog, e più noto che spesso essere un fashion blog non significa più capire e trovare i nuovi trend ma indossare vestiti firmati cercando di sembrare cool e originali, a volte senza nemmeno un particolare gusto o stile.
Questa lunga premessa per parlarvi dei fashion blogger che invece ammiro:

From me to you perché le sue foto sono davvero bellissime e lei hai il suo stile old-fashion che le sta a pennello (si dice ancora "le sta a pennello"??) ed è uno stile che non segue le sfilate delle fashion week.

The Man Repeller perché mi fa ridere e sembra davvero che indossi semplicemente quello che le va di indossare e non importa se non è trendy e alla moda.

(Entrambe di New York...è ufficiale: adoro NY!!)

A vintage taste for your designs: graph paper

I've always loved graph paper. Not that I used it that much, but every time I see one of those sheets full of very thin lines I wish to write something on it. Here I found some nice works made using graph paper (it gives a vintage taste, isn't it?), I hope you like them.

Ho sempre adorato la carta millimetrata. Non che io l'abbia usata così tanto, ma ogni volta che vedo uno di quei fogli pieni di linee sottilissime vicine vicine mi viene voglia di scriverci sopra. In questo post ho trovato per voi alcuni lavori fatti con la carta millimetrata (dà un aspetto vintage, vero?), spero vi piacciano.

Today I was doing some research for a project and I came across some Bulthaup kitchens catalogues. Do you know this brand? If you don't, have a look at the website because their products are definitely masterpieces for your kitchen, beautifully designed with a minimal, chic and cool style and realized using the best materials. No wonder they're so expensive. (By the way, also catalogues are very well designed!)

Oggi stavo facendo alcune ricerche per un progetto e mi è capitato di sfogliare alcuni cataloghi delle cucine Bulthaup. Conoscete questo marchio? Se non lo conoscete, date un'occhiata al sito perché i prodotti sono davvero dei capolavori del design, magistralmente progettati, dallo stile minimale, chic e cool e realizzati con i migliori materiali. Non c'è da sorprendersi se sono così costose. (E a proposito, anche i cataloghi sono molto belli!)

Did you know that on Behance there also are some culinary categories of works? I discovered it today and found something cool (and inviting!). The first is a typeface on cupcakes by Lauren Hom and the second is a shoot by Mariya Shaposhnikova. Have a look at the rest here.

I saw some other works there I wanted to show you so here I am with Hollie Paxton. I wanted to dedicate to this designer a post for herself because I totally fell in love with her rubbish jewellery, isn't it amazing? Ho scritto della mostra Jewellery Design alla Central Saint Martins qualche giorno fa. Ho visto ancora qualche gioiello all'esposizione che vorrei farvi vedere quindi eccomi qui a scrivervi di Hollie Paxton. Ho voluto scrivere un post esclusivamente per i suoi lavori perché mi sono follemente innamorata dei suoi gioielli della serie rubbish jewellery. E' fantastica, non siete d'accordo?

It's illustration day: Abby Diamond on Society6

Society6 is a website where you can sell your artworks (a little bit like Artflakes where you can see and buy my works) and they can also be printed on tees, laptop and iPhone cases. Here I discovered Abby Diamond colorful illustrations, I definitely wouldn't mind to have a canvas with her birds on my wall.

Society6 è un sito dove potete vendere i vostri lavori (un po' come Artflakes dove potete vedere e acquistare le mie stampe) e possono essere stampati anche su t-shirt e custodie di portatili e iPhone. Su questo sito ho scoperto le coloratissime illustrazioni di Abby Diamond, non mi dispiacerebbe per niente avere una delle sue stampe appesa al muro.

I was having a look at Behance this afternoon and I came across these beautiful typo-illustrations. I made a note with the author's name, Fabien Barral, because I wanted to post about him and tonight I discovered that he's the blogger of the amazing Graphic Exchange. Definitely a very talented designer.

Stavo dando un'occhiata a Behance questo pomeriggio e ho trovato queste bellissime tipo-illustrazioni. Ho annotato il nome dell'autore, Fabien Barral, perché volevo scrivervi in proposito e stasera ho scoperto che  è il blogger di Graphic Exchange. Sicuramente un designer di talento.

Central Saint Martin Jewellery Design: HyeRim Nah and Aurelie Schweizer

I was tidying up my book shelves this morning and I found something I wanted to post about long time ago and probably forgot. Last year I went at the BAs' exhibitions at Central Saint Martins, among all I found very interesting the Jewellery Design's one. Today I'll show you just some of the designers I liked more. The first jewels are by HyeRim Nah and the second ones are by Aurelie Schweizer.

Stavo riordinando i miei scaffali di libri stamattina e ho trovato qualcosa di cui volevo scrivervi un sacco di tempo fa e di cui poi mi sono dimenticata. L'anno scorso sono andata alla Central Saint Martins a vedere la mostra dei corsi triennali e tra tutte le esposizioni ho trovato bellissima quella di Jewellery Design. Oggi vi faccio vedere solo alcuni dei miei preferiti. I primi gioielli sono di HyeRim Nah e i secondi sono di Aurelie Schweizer.
